There is a woman who walks around with a pile of stones on her back. She can’t see them, but she can feel their weight on her shoulders. These burdens were gathered over time – they are past experiences that have become emotional weights in the present. The woman’s journey would be easier if she could begin unloading these stones, but sadly she is blind to them and therefore is unable to let them go.
I am this woman. Creating art is one of the few things that allow me to lift a stone from my shoulder, see it for what it truly is, and then ultimately to put it down and continue forward. I leave my stones by the wayside in the form of paintings. As other artists before me, I paint because I find these images are more useful when I stop carrying them and examine them.
....and sometimes I just make an image because I find it funny
